“To Make Him Known” – To grasp Decatur FUMC’s beginnings, you must travel all the way back to 1820s to really get an idea of the depth of this community church’s roots. Decatur First Methodist Church is the oldest church in Decatur, Georgia, and the oldest Methodist Church in the Atlanta area, having been organized in 1823. Housed within its walls is one of the oldest & largest Nationally-Registered Historic Pipe Organs in the United States, capable of awe-inspiring sounds & tones not often heard in modern-day life.
Sound Enterprises of Lawrenceville, Georgia reached out to the Visiontech team, in working with the Church on plans for not only an A/V systems upgrade- but to integrate a Visiontech Evo-Series display system to replace an aging projection system, all while not encroaching a too-modern look on the church sanctuary’s historic, classic architecture.
Both teams’ design efforts resulted in a beautifully-crafted twin-display design, sitting directly above and complimenting the church’s pipe organ caged windows. The expert installation team at Sound Enterprises masterfully removed and preserved the historical arch millwork- previously crowning the organ windows- and seamlessly integrated the Visiontech displays into the church’s upgraded A/V and broadcast systems. Decatur FUMC’s A/V team now uses their brand-new Visiontech system to display gorgeous background graphics, sermon text and hymnal lyrics, and live broadcast feeds.
