SMD is a Surface-Mount Diode. This display series employs 3-in-1 RGB diodes. For protection and surface smoothness, an SMD is surrounded by a mask.
With high-refresh ICs, they can support refresh rates from 3840Hz up to 7860Hz. Fed by the latest Novastar receiving card options and features, SMD-series products can be shot on camera without visible scanlines, can be used for ultra-high-brightness outdoor applications, and can support full-color calibration.
Also SMD technology has been in development for a long time, these product series benefit from a rich history of field operation and study, and allow us to offer a wide array of SMD solutions for an incredible amount of applications.
High-brightness diode development allowed for displays that look great in direct sunlight
Cabling and connection failures led to robust all-in-one connectors and redundant data designs
Energy-efficiency needs led to better power distribution designs
Touring needs led to new alloy development for cabinet construction
The following priorities frequently point to SMD as the best LED system for your project:
Clients making the investment in commercial signage, entertainment display arrays, and the infinite amount of other uses for LED displays all want the same thing- for their investment to last. These long-lifespan demands led to our partner development of 120,000-140,000+ hour diode and power supply lifespans before noticeable brightness and color degradation appears.
SMDs are versatile and some systems are better suited for specific environments. To help you decide if SMD is right for you, we discuss possibilities like IP rated cabinets, modules, and diodes, and look at the minimum brightness levels needed.
Even outdoor, direct sunlight conditions can be overcome with the latest high-brightness diode technology.
All outdoor series are water-resistant and can be installed just about anywhere. Water-resistance is available at pixel pitches from 2.8mm and up.
Our SMD lineup is often chosen when budget is a priority, and is a better choice if the display will not run the risk of physical impact or damage. Our COB lineup is water and front-impact rated, but at a higher premium.
Current COB series tech allows for large-format video walls to be directly interactive through touch control.
Because LED display hardware itself is fully modular, many of our products can be placed, fit, shaped, or otherwise adapted to unique architectural needs.
Tour-grade and rental LED display systems must include road casing, and cabinets are made of lighter magnesium and aluminum alloys to allow for easier mobility and faster setup, at the trade of a higher cost.
One of the most important questions, and will help guide our engineers and account executives to suggesting the perfect series for you- the first time.
All of our display series can be integrated into existing networking and audio/video environments in many ways, and can be controlled via Crestron, Control4, Q-SYS, and SAVI- just to name a few of the most common control environments used with Visiontech systems.
When longevity, customization, and affordability is a must, the versatility of an SMD display is paramount
